Recipe: Warm Four Bean & Hot Dog Salad

This warmed salad of vegetarian hotdogs and legumes is cooked without oil! How? I soaked these items in a small pan with red wine vinegar and slowly cooked on a low heat. The vinegar reduces down and the hotdogs and legumes are screaming with flavour!
After making this dish though, I’d recommend using the [...]

Health Focus: Being shy can put on weight

Stop the presses! A new study has come out advising shy girls are more likely to put on weight.  To simply advise that the problem is being shy seems to mean a lack of research.
Speaking from experience, it’s a combination of things that can cause weight gain.  Girls are shy because of issues with lack [...]

Recipe: Tomato & Basil Quinoa Salad

The last month or so I’ve been bringing in salads to work, rather than soups - because of the heat. For my lunches, I do try to stick between 200-250 calories to ensure I can have a big dinner to stop me getting cravings and eating a dessert afterwards. To keep the calories [...]

Health Focus: The effects of alcohol with your fitness

According to smh.com.au, going to the gym or exercising after a bender (on the same day or day after) is not such a good idea!
Apparently, studies have shown that the body can’t produce enough “glucose the working muscles require.” Whilst not having the glucose means you burn more fat, the level of exercise isn’t [...]

Recipe: Channa (Chickpea/Garbanzo) Masala

There’s a tradition on my mum’s side to have curries at Christmas (well Boxing Day)! Why not the traditional meal you may ask? Well my mum’s family come from Sri Lanka and hot spicy curries are our thing! This most recent Boxing Day was no exception, where we all brought a curry [...]

What’s On The Menu: Week Starting 07/01/2008

Back into the swing of things here now with the new year upon us. Fitness-wise I’m sticking to a plan and hopefully will see it through fully!
The recipes this week are the post-Christmas meals. I love Christmas, but boy are the meals filling and heavy meals are the last thing we all want [...]

The lemon juice balances the sauce out allowing a not-too-sweet sauce to be drizzled over your desired roast!
