Buddhist Vegetarian Cooking Classes

I’ve probably mentioned the place in the city before that not only has great meals for lunch in bento boxes, but also has tranquil music playing. It certainly is a great hideout or place to go when you want to get away from what is going on in life or work, it’s called Fo [...]

Recipe: Cherry tomatoes and basil fettucine

I have to thank Masterchef for this little recipe. I got the idea of the show last weekend, after Hannah who over complicates her dishes was taken to a very famous Italian restaurant in the UK. She was taken there to show how four simple ingredients can make a delicious meal. They [...]

Recipe: Sloppy Chickpeas

This originally was meant to be a loaf, but I had this last night in a roll and it’s much better as a “sloppy joes” version of chickpeas.   I’ll try and also make a loaf version of this, because I really enjoyed the flavours and think this would be a great roast or loaf.
Tuesday’s and [...]

run around the yarra

It was such a nice day today, that I had to get out for a run. I’m going to run at least three times a week, if my body allows! It certainly was a struggle, as it’s been so long and I won’t be leaving it this long again to get back into [...]

sorted recipes

Just a quicky to advise that I started categorising my recipes now and you’ll notice in the “Archives” section above and the “Browse by Category” on the RHS, that there are now sections for sweets, legumes etc.
Now that there are plenty of recipes, I thought it was a worthwhile time to make it easier for [...]

Recipe: Potato, Leek and Thyme Soup

As you’ve already would’ve figured out, it’s cold here in Melbourne! Soup is the only thing comforting enough to satisfy the belly on cold days. Which is why, I’m experimenting lately with the vegetables available to make soup.
This one however, is a very traditional soup but I’ve made this low fat vegetarian / [...]

Recipe: Curried Chickpea, Lentil and Carrot Soup

Interestingly enough, I had trouble deciding what to call this one. Is it a curry, is it dahl, is it a casserole or is it really a soup? In the end, I thought I’d file this one under soup.
This very quick and simple dish is not only very delicious but low in fat [...]

Recipe: Roasted Sweet Potato and Fennel Soup

Fennel. I don’t think I would’ve ever thought about trying this as a kid. It doesn’t really loook appetising….this white bulb with thin stringy leaves. The smell…even worse!
Who could like a vegetable that smells of aniseed?
I was never even game enough to try this vegetable until now… This is one vegetable [...]

3.9 kgs lost

I weighed in this morning and my workouts with diet plan have made me turn my corner I needed. I’ve lost 3.9kgs this week and back in the right direction!
It’s been a pretty eventful week and I’m glad my diet wasn’t affected by this!
I will be planning on making some sweet potato gnocchi tonight [...]

Recipe: vegetarian sweet and sour soup

I’ve been struck down with a cold and decided to order this sweet little number yesterday at Enlightened Cuisine, a vegetarian restaurant in South Melbourne. Upon eating this, my nose has cleared up and I felt so, so comforted that I needed to try and replicate this last night for today’s bento.
After researching the [...]
