Need a warm-me-up for the footy or your local sporting event? This one tomato soup will definitely do the trick with a smack of chilli just to spice it up!
Any traditional tomato soup will do, but I think this one is made […]

Recipe: Baba Ganoush Soup

Image: Baba Ganoush Soup served with a dollop of tahini.
Why do dips just need to be a snack? When’s something is that good, I like to try and find ways to turn them into something else without sabotaging the traditional flavours intended.  This traditionally Middle-Eastern dip, Baba Ganoush is just tha.  I’ve been able […]

Recipe: Potato, Corn and Leek Soup

I asked my mum what she’d like for soup this week and she said potato and leek. Not that I have anything against a traditional potato and leek soup, but I’ve made a couple and wanted something unique! So the challenge was to try and make something a little different and […]

Recipe: Curried Sweet Potato & Lentil Soup

Updated: This has just been awarded the weekly winner of the Golden Gnome award for “Best Appetizer” on Make Me Hungry’s flickr group. View here.

Recipe: Chickpea & Carrot Soup

This lovely soup has been made twice in two weeks, as I enjoyed it so much. The carrot and chickpeas blend in well, providing a lovely thick soup to have with some crusty bread.
It’s relatively easy to make by just adding all your ingredients and blending or mashing afterwards!
There’s a couple of ingredients that […]

Recipe: Lemon, Spinach & Lentil Soup

We’ve got a whole lot of lemons here at home and rather than waste these. I’m coming up with some unique ways to use these in meals. It uses the whole lemon boiled down to a mushy consistency.
This soup here is definitely unique because of this and also very delicious.   Just be […]

Recipe: Borlotti Bean Soup

I love Winter because you can always warm yourself with a nice comforting soup!  This one here is one worth trying for the unique flavours that bring out the borlotti bean themselves.  It has a little hint of paprika, sage and tahini that compliments the borlotti beans and is made delicious with a couple of […]

Recipe: Cream of Broccoli Soup

Over the last few days, I’ve been doing quite a bit of cooking and also viewing some delicious recipes being made at the Buddhist Vegetarian Cooking Class. We were shown how to make vegetarian wontons - my absolute favourite snack food when going to a couple of the vegetarian restaurants and also hot and […]

Recipe: Beef style four bean soup

This is more like a casserole than a soup, nice and chunky and great for those winter days like this morning down here in Melbourne.
It’s always great waking up to a nice and warm 2 degrees celsius and heading out to an iced up window on your car! It was that cold, it even […]

Recipe: Tomato & Fennel Soup

A slight tweak to the old tomato soup here with the use of caramelised fennel. Surprisingly, the flavour is not too overpowering but allows for a little variety in your ordinary soups.
This one was slow cooked to allow the flavours to intensify in the dish.
Ingredients:

1 medium fennel, sliced
2 tsp garlic
1 red onion, sliced
2 tbs […]
