For those carnivores coming up to Christmas, it can be difficult buying Christmas presents for Vegetarians. This first post will hopefully provide some ideas for you and also Vegetarians to pass on to their friends!

Some of these items I own and others are things I’d like to purchase in the future. Feel free to add your wishlist items here or great gifts that you’ve given or received in the past!

  1. Veganomicon
The new bible for Vegans, Isa has a great way of coming up with new techniques for your normal, everyday ingredients. Her book inspires others (including myself), to come up with new ideas based on the original recipes from this book. Definitely try the cutlets – they are a must for any vegan or vegetarian – and they were the fuse behind my Chicken Schnitz!
  2. Cornucopia at Home – The Cookbook
I don’t actually own this book but the lovely writeup in BBC UK’s Good Food Vegetarian makes me want to buy this book. The author owns a very popular vegetarian restaurant in Dublin.
  3. The Really Useful Ultimate Student Vegetarian Cookbook by Helen Aitken
Now, even though this is a student book, I think it would be a great buy for those on a tight budget, with a small kitchen or even those just wanting some new ideas. The price is an absolute bonus about this book!
  4. The Modern Vegetarian Kitchen
One of my faves! Are you looking for a healthy, organic alternative? Or something a little out of the norm? This book is just for you! You can learn to make pasta from scratch or pizza with ingredients that you probably wouldn’t thought of combining or using for that type of dish. The end results are to die for….
  5. Vegan Cupcakes take over the World
The title definitely says it all, because this book has taken the over the Vegan World and turned quite a few vegetarians and meat-eaters into converts of vegan cupcakes. Any person, even those with no dietary requirements would enjoy the beautiful pictures and recipes in this book.

More to come next week….
