What’s on the Menu: Week Starting 05/05/2008

I’ve been a little under the weather this week, but managed to come up with some new treats anyway. Some of these I’ve had in mind for a while, but haven’t done anything about. All of these ideas and all my recipes are kept in a notebook. I believe it’s the best thing to have with you at all times, because ideas come to you everywhere and a quick note will at least give you a starting point!
Onto this week, first up is a lovely olive tapenade pasta which is nice and easy to make. It only involves a blender and one pot! If you’re after something quick, easy and great tasting, it’s worth giving this one a try!
Secondly, Middle-eastern baba ganoush is traditionally served as a dip and involves pureed eggplant. Some may say that I’ve tampered with a wonderful creation, but I believe this soup takes on the same traditional flavours but transforms it into a warming soup for those to enjoy in the winter months.
Lastly, and quite differently to the normal recipes on my site, is Kumquat Marmalade. My tree has been loaded with kumquats and every weekend I have been wanting to make some marmalade with them. I just have never been motivated to do the job until this weekend. So, get ready to try the bitter-sweet flavours of the easy-to-make Kumquat Marmalade!
