What’s on the Menu: Week Starting 21/04/2008

I’m a little tender today from my first hockey match yesterday for the proper season. We played against a team that came down from the higher league and I got a bit of a workout.
Food-wise, I’ve been managing to make some different pasta dishes in preperation for the next day at hockey. I’ll also be combining some other carb-heavy meals shortly, pasta is not the only thing that can be eaten on these days. Of course, it is a favourite though.
This week, I had an idea to make some italian meatballs on pasta and although they turned out a little like hamburgers, they tasted quite good and I reckon worthy of putting up. Not only can these meatballs be used in this dish, but tried on their own as a burger. They’ve got a little chicken taste to them, but if you’re after a more meaty version, you could use something like shitake mushrooms in them or some vegetarian beef stock.
Also on the menu is a delicious sweet potato curry soup. This one’s got some unique sweet flavour with warm spices and some lentils. You’d almost be mistaken in thinking it’s a dahl with the consistency!
Final thing this week is a pasta using vegetables that you’d normally wouldn’t eat in a pasta. It also consists of one that I’d normally wouldn’t eat at all, but my taste has changed. Try this with some of the vegies you may not be that keen on!
